Concert at Farnham Castle

Including
a reprise of THE MERRY WIVES OF WINDSOR
and
a celebration of Mozart's 250th birthday

Five soloists plus the Opera South Chorus
Director of Music: Tom Higgins
Accompaniment by Julia Kennard

Concert begins at 7.00pm — Tickets £20.00
(To include coffee and biscuits during the interval)

The first half of the programme will comprise, in a reprise of February's production, extracts from The Merry Wives of Windsor by Otto Nicolai in the new performing edition by Tom Higgins with translation by Guy Davenport. So, if you missed the fully staged opera, here is another chance to catch just some of its music.

The second half of the evening will celebrate the 250th anniversary of the birth of W.A. Mozart with favourite masterpieces with music by Mozart, Beethoven, Offenbach, and Johann Strauss II.

Our Director of Music, Tom Higgins, has selected the programme for both halves of the programme, and he will also be conducting the performances and introducing the items.

Along with the five soloists, the Opera South Chorus will be singing in both parts of the programme.

Farnham Castle is a most interesting venue, and the concert will be held in the Great Hall of the castle . Refreshments will be served in the mediaeval buttery during the interval.
