Web links for some people who have worked with Opera Omnibus / Opera South
This page has been added to allow you to view artists’ linked pages quickly, without either continually using your browser’s Back button on the one hand, or starting great numbers of pop-up windows, or new tabs — either of which you then have to close — on the other hand.
Obviously, to view any artist’s home page or website, just click on the artist’s name in the window pane on the left.
To return to this page for the standard Opera South navigation bars at the top, just click Menu found at the top and bottom of the list to the left.
Please remember the following points:
- These links are provided for your information and out of interest.
- Whether or not any name appears in this list is not a statement about a person, or even about any web presence they may have. Some people listed here were well established in the world of opera (or, indeed, famous) before their involvement with the company; the aim of their generous involvement has been to help the company with its aims. As one of its aims, Opera Omnibus / Opera South has over the years also involved the talents of many now more well-known people, and helped many of those to get started on promising (or, indeed, already successful) careers. Most of these were not so well established beforehand and some of their progress may be attributable to experience gained working with Opera Omnibus/Opera South. Other people who have been involved with company productions have taken different directions in their lives and careers such that no link is offered here.
- This is rather obvious, but worth mentioning. Most artists, including opera singers, are very busy building their careers and working: studying, singing, and travelling. Only people for whom the Opera South webmaster knows of a web link can be listed on this page at all. The webmaster is aware of quite a number of people (singers, musicians, stage directors, designers, conductors) who have had some connection in the past with Opera Omnibus / Opera South but for whom he is unaware (after searching) of any web presence. They cannot be listed on this page simply because of its specialized purpose. If their names appear in Past Shows play bills they are without links. (Note: For a few such individuals for which information was available, Opera South pages have been created to which links have been provided instead. Existence or not of such a page has no particular significance.)
- Whether or not any particular individual has any kind of web presence does not necessarily say anything about that person’s degree of talents, skills, or accomplishments in their chosen field. Similarly, inclusion in this list should not be construed as implying anything other than the fact that the indivual has at some time been involved with an Opera Omnibus /Opera South event, and has also been found to have a web presence of some kind (as of last update — see foot of name list).
- The sophistication of individual websites — page style, site size, and complexity — is quite variable. Pages are in any case often managed by agents or other representatives. Direct comparisons of website sophistication are meaningless and (again, obviously) not in any way indicative of any person’s qualities or abilities at their craft.
- Artists can change their web presence at any time. If any link does not work, it is because they have changed it and the Opera South webmaster has not yet caught up with the change. If you are an artist making such a change, or notice a broken link, let the webmaster know!
- Now the caveat which almost every other organization puts out regarding external web links: remember always that neither Opera South nor the Opera South webmaster has any control over what appears on external websites, or how they will be displayed (except that, linking from this Opera South page only, all external pages will appear in this right-hand frame of your browser window).
